Painting description

"Roses, anenomes and peonies, strawberries, a silver-gilt ostrich egg cup and a gold-gilt tankard on a draped table" was painted by Jean-Baptiste Robie in 1880.

John Robie (or Jean-Baptiste Robie ), born 19 November 1821 in Brussels and died Dec. 8, 1910 , is an academic painter and writer who lived in Brussels Saint-Gilles. Famous in his lifetime for his still lifes, he was nicknamed " the lover of roses ."
